Stephanie Camacho-Van Dyke is a queer biracial film photography enthusiast born in Guadalajara, Mexico and raised in Southern California. She enjoys using Kodak motion picture film in her work, incorporating the same materials often used in filmmaking. Her creative vision is inspired by some of her favorite storytellers and filmmakers, including Todd Haynes, Martin Scorsese, Christopher Nolan, and Terrence Malick, whose works have shaped her approach to visual narrative.
Stephanie is particularly drawn to themes of identity, memory, nostalgia, and belonging. Her photography leans into natural light, wide angle perspectives, and layered compositions. She is inspired by photographers, such as Nan Goldin, Catherine Opie, Shirin Neshat, and Robert Mapplethorpe, and she sees her work as a form of quiet storytelling—both documentary and poetic—grounded in the quotidian.
